The
system consists of a ‘Vehicle Location Unit’ (VLU) installed
in the vehicle, backed by existing communication networks,
Star Technologies proprietary infrastructure and a 24
hour active ‘Monitoring Station’. The VLU is an integrated
security alarm and intelligent tracking device that
uses an on-board GPS (Global Positioning Satellite)
receiver to pinpoint a vehicle’s location and enables
two-way communication between the vehicle and the monitoring
station. The VLU supports a range of triggers and sensors
that can be connected to key points in the vehicle such
as ignition, engine, brakes, speedometer, temperature,
fuel, oil gauge,
cargo bay, doors, windows, headlights and horn etc,
as per a client’s requirements. The sensors monitor
the vehicle’s vital functions and report their performance
data to the VLU. They also monitor the vehicle for tampering
and activate the alarm to ward off perpetrators. The
VLU relays the vehicle’s location along with the useful
statistical data to the monitoring station taking advantage
of the extended countrywide seamless coverage offered
by 3rd party GSM / GPRS networks.

At
the monitoring station, the location parameters are
used to plot the vehicle’s travel itinerary on a digitized
roadmap of the area in real-time while the performance
data is archived in our robust database and is used
to derive customized information. Car owners and fleet
operators can log-on to a secure web portal to access
this information. If the vehicle is tampered with or
reported stolen, the monitoring station can also remotely
instruct the VLU to disable the engine, honk the horn,
flash headlights or lock the doors to help locate the
vehicle quickly. The vehicle owner, police and concerned
authorities are alerted to the situation. Within their
jurisdiction, the Mobile Trackers retrieve the immobilized
vehicle within a matter of minutes, ensuring the safety
of both the vehicle owner and their families at all
times. |
