How StarWorld® Works | |
1. |
The vehicle to be tracked is fitted with a transceiver.
The transceiver provides 2-way communication through
Inmarsat’s constellation and also receives vehicle’s
location information from at least 4 Global Positioning Satellites |
2. |
When required, the exact position of the vehicle is calculated in
terms of its longitude & latitude with reference to the Global Positioning Satellite |
3. |
This position along with additional information like vehicle’s speed, time, date,
altitude and the data from the sensors is beamed up to Inmarsat’s satellite constellation |
4. |
Distributed all around the world, giant communications antennas at Inmarsat’s
Land Earth Stations are listening for the return signal, which they then route
through secure SSL Internet connection |
5. |
Star Technologies server at the Monitoring Station
retrieves messages to and from Inmarsat’s Land Earth Stations |
6. |
The data is plotted onto digitized map of the region
and continually updated to monitor the vehicle’s changing position at all times |
7. |
Fleet Managers and vehicle owners can log-on to Star Technologies
secure web portal and check the vehicle’s position in real-time.
They can also view performance data & statistics related to the vehicle |
